Welcome to Mellieha
Mellieha is specialist residential home providing support for people living with complex conditions such as autism, dementia, learning disabilities, attachment disorders, Schizophrenia, and varying degrees of mental health conditions.
Inside the home there are five large bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, as well as a large games room, a shared dining room, living room, kitchen, and sensory garden.
Part of the Mellieha community are a further two specialist residential homes – Elmswell and Oakwell, which altogether provide support for 15 adults.
Here, we provide specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Our DBT Champions will work with you and provide person-centered support that enables you to cope with and accept change and learn how to manage behaviours and thoughts that can create negative feelings.
On site at Mellieha, every manager is trained in DBT and has a very strong understanding of how this therapy works and how it can benefit people receiving support, and the rest of the team, too.
Mellieha is located at the top of South Elmsall Hill, which makes it part of a thriving local community. There’s a large daily market, numerous shops, cafes, bars, and local amenities.
The home is within proximity of mainline train stations giving direct access to Wakefield, Leeds, and Sheffield, as well as a large local bus station with routes covering Hemsworth, Barnsley and other larger neighboring towns.

We’re proud to have such positive feedback from people we support and their families. A relative told us they were very happy with the support their family received.
One relative told us there was a consistent team who ‘went the extra mile’ to ensure their family member was cared for.
Another relative said, “They know what they’re doing.” and “[My family member] has done so well here, much better than expected”; another said, “I couldn’t wish for anything better.”
We are here to support you and your family. If you have a referral please fill out the form provided. Please keep in mind we can only accept referrals from those young people and adults who have a diagnosis of ASC.
